Reader Review: This is working better for me than I'd expected. When first reading this series, I was really anticipating seeing Anita straighten things out re: her relationships with Richard and Jean Claude. I'd never been one of those readers rooting for one or the other; I always figured they'd turn out to be a threesome. Not only was I disappointed in that respect, but I also wasn't particularly thrilled at all the new relationships (and confusing magic) introduced a couple of books ago in NARCISSUS. Now that I've had a couple more books to get fond of (and intrigued by) Micah, and am feeling more invested in Anita's relationship with Nathaniel (who is such a wounded/needy character in earlier books that I, like Anita, took a while to get used to seeing him as a grownup and an object of romantic interest) ... anyway, now I'm liking all these different relationships a lot more than I did originally. I think one of the things that LKH does amazingly well is make me really believe that all these different relationships are love. I'll have to reread the earlier books again, but my feeling now is that while I still like them a lot, I actually like where the series is going. The way in which the sex is mixed with pain, violence, domination, etc. makes me uncomfortable, but the underlying feeling of real emotion really does it for me.
Vampire hunter Anita Blake finds her life is more complicated than ever, caught as she is between her obligations to the living-and the undead.

Title: Incubus Dreams: The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series July 15, 2012 Yawn. This book is BORING. The previous titles in the series were awesome. I flew through them like there was no tomorrow, but I can't seem to make myself trudge through this one.

The story line is boring. Anita gains some new powers and does some stupid things that are TOTALLY out of character for her. Seriously, the Anita of this book is completely unrecognizable compared to the Anita of the first book. Such a shame.
Oh, and would someone just burn Jean Claude already? His character is even whinier and less loveable in this book than in previous installments.
Enjoyable!!

I really like where Anitas relationships are going. I enjoy that she can love them all and appreciate them all. Anita is called in to help with a killer that humans have no hope to catch on their own. But with prejudices on the police force, it is difficult for Anita to do her job. Anita has to work through her own feelings about her relationship with Jean and other peoples feelings about it. Cant wait for the next!!
real page turner

This is like some of the recent LKH books--a real page-turner. I have enjoyed this book and as before, it is hard to put down.
