Reader Review: Laurell Hamilton continues her Anita Blake series in her typical high octane style. She grabs you from page 1 and keeps you engaged until the end at which point she leaves you with a serious craving for the next book. This series is not for the faint of heart or the conservatives among us so if you are uncomfortable with extreme fantasy you should stay far away from the Anita Blake series. Personally as a fan of this series, the past couple books have been a little disappointing for me but Danse Macabre reminded me why I am hooked on Hamilton's writing and this series in particular. A must read for Anita Blake fans!
In the thralls of supernatural passion, Anita Blake faces a most human dilemma.

Although I really loved this book, truth be told, the storyline is not that great. There is a vampire ballet in town and Jean Claude had invited several master vampires to attend. Anita has a lot to deal with in this book. Trouble starts when the vampires from the ballet start to influence the viewers. This starts a chain reaction, where Anita gets severely hurt and to heal herself, she has to have sex. The sex part returns very often in this book. She has to feed the ardeur, find an extra Pomme de Sang and gets intimate with the master vampire Auggie. In spite of all the sex, I do think this book was fun to read and I do recommend it to Anita Blake fans..

Another winner for Laurell Hamilton as she continues her Anita Blake series. Although this does not rate as a favorite of mine in the series it still was good and gives more in site into the lives of Anita and Jean Claude. Since a major focus in this book is the ardeur that basically makes it a great sexfest. I was hopefully there would be a crime to solve or more involvement with the other key players in the series. Well there is always the next one!
very interesting

Although I still found the story very interesting, Danse Macabre did not quite live up to my expectations. In the latest Anita Blake novel, a vampire ballet troupe has come to St. Louis and Jean Claude had invited several other Masters of the City to attend the performance. Along with all the politics, Anita is forced to deal with a possible pregnancy, selecting a new Pomme de Sang, and her growing/changing powers. Unlike the other novel in this series, Anita's profession never comes into play. There are no crime scenes to visit, vampires to execute, or zombies to raise. Dolph and Zerbrowski are never even mentioned.
