Reader Review: The idea behind this series is great. Eight brothers exiled to Nightfall Island only because they're destined to be The Sons of Destiny. The brothers are all twins, born two years apart from each pair. In this first book we come to know all of the brothers in one stance, which is very difficult to memorize who is twin to who and what they look like. This is one of the flaws I found in this book. As you read the book you get to know a little of each brother. I found the female character a bit annoying and overbearing, but as I read the other books on this series I think there is a reason for that. The basis for this series is that, in a world of magic, Seer Draganna made a prophecy about 8 brothers. Prophecies are very subjective, and different people can have different views of the same text. Because of a harsh interpretation of the prophecy, all brothers were sent to Nightfall Island, never to return to Katan. Sometimes, prophecies tend to find a way to come true, and it all begins when Kelly Doyle, an earthling is brought to nightfall or she would die in a fire. More I'll not say, because I don't want to give any spoilers. The story has a great plot to support it, but the writing could be better, I tend to "see" images when I read, and with this book it was a bit difficult, but this was the first book published by the author. The writing gets better with each book. If you want to start this series, do with an open mind and don't be judgmental with Kelly, although it's a bit difficult to like her. I do recommend this series to anyone who likes romance.
First in the Sons of Destiny series-now in mass market.
To avoid tempting destiny, four sets of twin mage-brothers are exiled to Nightfall Island, where females are forbidden. But when the youngest rescues a woman from another universe, their world is altered forever.

| Note | ePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the "non-propreitary" hardware manufacturers are now supporting it. |
Title: The Sword August 19, 2009 While I can definitely say that Saber is a character that you really want to get to know the idea of a woman in modern time being called out as a witch and burned in bed is a little far fetched at best. To top it off it's all because she works in a medieval reenactment festival and she loves to make lace! I enjoyed the fiesty nature of Kelly, but overall the book leaves me wanting more. Even the disaster that she brings in her wake is slightly anti-climatic. I wanted something more on the level of Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter and unfortunately it fell a little flat however it still makes for a quick fun read.

The first book in the Sons of Destiny series promises an interesting and compelling series. THe world the Jean Johnson has created is well thought out and the characters (one yummy brother after another) are intriguing. Add in some good smut, and this novel is a winner!

Loved this book. When the youngest brother rescues a woman from Earth, havoc reigns for the Sons of Destiny especially the Eldest. The author set herself up perfectly with this book to write a whole series - four sets of magical twins, an epic destiny, no women allowed on their island of exile...
