Reader Review: For me this book started off a bit slow. Lots of descriptions about the surroundings. But when the story did pick up in pace I couldn't put it down. I've always wondered about Jason and his past from the glimpses given in the previous Guild Hunter books. This story made me love his character more and I must say that Mahiya's character was also very intriguing and is now one of my favorites in the series.
Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly beautiful world of archangels and immortal power, as a pact is sealed between two souls bound by blood, stirred by desire, and driven by vengeance…
With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha’s consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late.
Earning Neha’s trust comes at a price—Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.
With only their relentless hunt for a violent, intelligent killer to unite them, Jason and Mahiya embark on a quest that leads to a centuries-old nightmare… and to the dark storm of an unexpected passion that threatens to drench them both in blood.

This is Jason's book. It was well worth the wait. Wonderfully exciting. Suspenseful, riveting.
I wasn't sure I was going to like his leading lady, after all, I assumed that anyone coming out
of Neha's court would be evil. I was wrong! I loved Mahiya. She is a heroine that everyone can admire.
This was one of my favorites in this series. Wonderful!

Wow. Nalini Singh does NOT disappoint. This book is her 5th book in her Guild hunter series and the 3rd book that tells the story of one of Raphael's 7. I loved Jason and Mahiya's story. It was awesome to find out about Jason's past and the reason for his darkness. Can't wait for more!
Another excellent installment in Singh's Angel's series

I've been following Nalini Singh's series ever since I discovered her, and I have been anticipating this book for months now. While Jason wasn't my top choice as the hero - I really want Bluebell's story! lol - that didn't negate my appreciation for Jason's story. This book showed us into Jason's past, and how he became the angel he is today. It also gave us further insight into the intricacies of the Cadre, in particular Neha, and how the power play is developing among the Cadre. All in all I loved this book, which also showed glimpses of our other favorite characters, like Aodhan, Venom, and past hero and heroine Dmitri and Honor. If you've followed this series, definitely buy it! Its worth it.
