Reader Review: There are a few constants with Reacher books. One, Reacher is usually trying to get from point A to point B with as little cost as possible because he doesn't have a job. Two, somewhere between the two points some idiot decides to get in Reacher's way. And, three, the idiot dies. The book opens with a dead guy who was murdered and Reacher on the side of the rode trying to hitch a ride to Virginia so that he can meet up with the girl he met in 61 hours. Reacher manages to get a ride with a group of three in the car. What Reacher doesn't know is that all three are liars (he figures that out pretty soon via his uncanny observations and using that magical mind of his). He also learns covertly in the car ride that woman passenger is there against her will and that she is a mother. That's all it takes for Reacher's hero complex to kick in. The story that is told after those revelations is pretty good. Since all three passengers in the car are liars, there are at least three different stories for Reacher to uncover. The uncovering is pretty good, leading to a conclusion that has a couple of surprising deaths, expected deaths, and as usual a story so complex only the mind of Reacher could figure it out. To tell any more would just ruin the book with spoilers. Just know that you won't be disappointed.

Reacher is back! A Wanted Man is a new masterpiece of suspense—from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child.

Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia.

An hour behind them, a man lies stabbed to death in an old pumping station. He was seen going in with two others, but he never came out. He has been executed, the knife work professional, the killers vanished. Within minutes, the police are notified. Within hours, the FBI descends, laying claim to the victim without ever saying who he was or why he was there.

All Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy that makes him a threat—to both sides at once.

In Lee Child’s white-hot thriller, nothing is what it seems, and nobody is telling the truth. As the tension rises, the twists come fast and furious, keeping readers guessing and gasping until the explosive finale.
