Reader Review: I enjoyed "River Marked", It is nice to see the characters continue to grow. New situations, challenges, and a great read. Ms Biggs characters have depth, and are not just two dimensional. No super heroes that can only be harmed with Kryptonite. He characters are just people with all the hair and warts that have some extra abilities. I find her books interesting, sometimes funny and an all-around good read.
Being a different breed of shapeshifter-a walker-Mercy Thompson can see ghosts, but the spirit of her long-gone father has never visited her. Until now, on her honeymoon with the Alpha werewolf Adam. An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River-and innocent people are dying. As other walkers make their presence known to Mercy, she must reconnect with her heritage to exorcise the world of the legend known as the river devil...

Title: River Marked May 2, 2012 This book is quite a bit different from the others is the series. For one, Mercy finally marries Adam. Not a big shocker, he did propose, but the fact that she went along with it quietly and happily was a huge surprise. As well, Briggs reveals quite a bit more about mercy and her origins in this book. The fact that the big bad is based off a myth, that they have to figure out which part is fact or fiction, is a big change from the bad guys who just wanted to gun them down before.

I think this was probably the best book out of the series, yet. Then again, they are all amazing books so it'd be hard to tell. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I can't wait to see what type of situation Mercy gets into next!

River Marked: Mercy Thompson series, Book #6

Like all of the previous books in this series as well as the related Alpha and Omega series, this book was excellent. It also answered many questions about Mercy's backstory and heritage.
Patricia Brigg's books are well-written with good, 3-dimensional characters in a well developed world. If you like the Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong or the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, I think you'll also like this series. All have strong, compelling female lead characters.
