Reader Review: Kate and Curran have had more ups and downs in their relationship than a roller coaster, but I love them!! <3 They have finally accepted each other as of the end of the last book, and you know that they will soon achieve their happily ever after... Just not yet. They both have some demons and deep fears that they, as individuals need to work out... Kate is stubborn and is not used to baring her feelings and being honest about her life to anyone else, and Curran, as the alpha of the pack, is not used to giving up any control to anyone else. But these inner battles along with their outside conflicts set the stage for an awesomeeee book =]
Kate Daniels has quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but starting her own business isn't easy when the Order starts disparaging her good name. And being the mate of the Beast Lord doesn't bring in the customers, either. So when Atlanta's premier Master of the Dead asks for help with a vampire, Kate jumps at the chance. Unfortunately, this is one case where Kate should have looked before she leapt.

Title: Magic Slays January 18, 2012 I love the husband and wife team author. I follow their blog. I follow them on Facebook. I enjoy both their Kate Daniels series as well as the Edge series. I'm a fanatic! But just because I have lots of love for them, it doesn't mean that I give every book a high rating blindly. No, they get 5 stars because it is worth 5 stars!

This series gets better and better

I saved this book for a long time. Believe me, it was rough. Book 5 came out a little bit after Chloe Neill's latest CV book. I was pissed over that book. I couldn't wait to get my hands on Kate Daniels to wipe away the bleh of Hard Bitten. But then I realized that if I devoured this book too quickly, what would I read on vacation?! So I held onto it and finally finished it this past week. It Was Awesome!!
Never a dull moment in Magic Slays. I loved the pace, the further development of Kate & Curran, as well as finding out more about Kate's origins. I love this series. I love the authors. I love that they don't resort to cheap ploys to keep their readers waiting for the next book. Instead, it leaves you satisfied, yet eager for the next book because you just KNOW it's going to get juicier.
Lovee Katee Daniels <3

If you're a big fan of urban fantasy, please try this series. Every book is a big tease toward the resolution of Kate vs her big bad daddy. In this book, she's discovered that those she always trusted may have tricked her, and she's relying on the Beast Lord. This entire series has been so amazing that when a new book is due, I go back thru them all just to make sure I'm ready.
Kate's world is different from most urban fantasies. Magic isn't consistent. It comes and goes in waves, like rain and sunshine, so her physical condition is every bit as crucial as her magic abilities. Problem is, the better she gets at magic, the closer she gets to her father figuring out she's still alive, and since Roland has killed all his children, she knows he's not going to welcome her with open arms.
It's a completely different system. Vampires are bloodthirsty empty shells piloted by live psychic connections. Shifters live by "The Code," or the beast lord kills them all. Magic is unpredictable, and Kate, in this book, is reminded that she had a mother, too, and guess what? She had a very extended family...
Ilona Andrews goes in the same category for me as Gabaldon and Martin, a series you prepare for as you wait.
