Reader Review: The heroine of this story was really likeable for her straightforward and realistic outlook. Overall even though the novella was short, I was really engrossed in the events that took place.
THE ICE PRINCESS is an all-new, never before published short story featuring Cora, a beloved secondary character from the Prince Trilogy.

Too short, but I'm glad Cora got her own story

I found Cora to be one of the most compelling characters in "The Raven Prince"--mysterious, complicated, tough as nails--and I'm very glad she finally got her own book. I just wish it weren't so short!
So much has to happen offstage to get the plot where it's going within the novella format that it makes the characters' emotions and actions seem implausible. If I hadn't read "The Raven Prince," I don't think I'd have had a clue why Cora was the way she was, and I certainly didn't know enough about Isaac to get what he was up to. And the villain seemed like such a promisingly awful person, it would have been nice to see a bit more of his awfulness at work. Hoyt's writing is concise and evocative, as always, but there just isn't enough room for all the backstory that I suspect she's worked out in her head.
Ah, well. Novellas. They're better than nothing, I guess.
