Reader Review: The last of the series, this book concludes the tale of the five half-brothers who find each other, their father and the money. Except they don't find the money, Hannah finds out where it is and murder follows almost right away. She's the one who looks like the prime suspect and Gbriel is going after her and he's going to get her. Gabriel, who falls in love with Hannah the first time he sees her picture, must learn that choices can be far more difficult to make than he realized, but love does conquer all. This is a wonderful love story, but if you think graphic sex every few pages constitues romance, this book isn't going to provide it for you. This book is true romance--a little titillation as well as the love making scene, all done without the verbal Kama Sutra. Think guys who like a woman dressed in sexy clothes...the imagination can be a wonderful thing. That's what you get here, plus murder, a scary house set on a cliff with secret tunnels and rooms, really bad guys and a bad seed. Hannah and Gabriel's story is terrific. It's always great when the guy is the one who falls fast, hard, and first! Ms Dodd does a wonderful job, in my opinion, of telling a great story and ending her series.

Hannah Grey, an in home care nurse on admistrative leave due to a pending investigation, is hired & coerced by Carrick Manly to take care, & spy on, his invalid mother. A mother who is hiding a secret about a stolen fortune worth millions. Hannah befriends the surly Mrs. Manly, but Carrick believes she has ingratiated herself with his mother to steal her fortune too. Carrick hires a security firm owned by Gabriel Prescott, who unbeknowst to him is his half brother.
Gabriel is hired to observe Hannah, but takes the case to learn more about his secret brother. He quickly becomes enamored & obsessed with the seemingly moral and altruistic Hannah, but questions his instincts and her innocence due to his jaded perception.
I have been eagarly anticipating this book for a while, as it concludes both the Fortune Hunters series & the Lost Texas Hearts series. Gabriel Prescott has been a mysterious character in many of these previous stories, and thought that Danger in a Red Dress would be his story. However, the story focuses more on Hannah than on Gabriel. I was somewhat disappointed in this choice. That being said, the reader is instantly intrigued with Hannah & her story.
This was a fast paced story, that was more of a suspence, than it was a romance, which is my only criticism for this book. I think a reader has certain expectations when reading a book in series like this one. You expect that the new book will follow a similar formula as the previous ones, that makes it cohesive, and builds on what has been previously established. I didn't feel that that happened with this story.
As a romantic suspence it is disappointing, but as a suspence novel it was an enjoyable read. If you decide to read this book, don't expect a romance. However, if you want a suspence novel, with intriguing & conflicted characters, a mystery surrounding a lost fortune, malicious & deadly relatives, then I think you will find Danger in a Red Dress an enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book tremendously; last in the Manly series. This book maintained my interest from start to finish with a good twist at the end. The chatacters and situations were believable especially for someone who works in the medical field. Dodd kept teh action going and left you intrigued enough to want to hurry and get to the end of the story. I enjoyed this book more than the others in the Manly series. The only issue I found was when the main two characters were finally venting; I felt she should have made the heroine more assertive in explaining her point of view.
