Reader Review: After reading my first Jude Deveraux book (I cannot remember the name of the book), I was totally put off from reading anymore of her books. But then a friend suggested I try the "Velvet Promise. I loved it.I hope to continue finishing off this series and I hope all the books are similar or better.

All of England rejoiced on her wedding day. But Judith vowed that her husband would get only what he took from her!

At the flower-bedecked altar, the first touch of their hands ignited an all-consuming passion. Gavin Montgomery looked deep into her golden eyes and burned with desire for her...but his heart had been pledged to another.

Humiliated and alone in a strange castle, Judith resolved to hate this husband who took her body, but rejected her love...never admitting her fear of losing him.

But destiny held another fate for Judith...a fate that would keep at last ...The Velvet Promise.

About two people forced into a marriage of convenience. The heroine was so courageous and loyal but the guy (I would not call him a hero!) was so misled by his mistress, whom he fancied himself in love with, he could not see under his nose. He insults his wife, distrusts her and even hit her. I can't understand why she could feel passion for this man that bears no soft feelings for her. I also didn't see how the he could have been so blind.
