Reader Review: Well...this book has a lot of sex/sexual encounters in it to say the least.Nari (belonging to a group of humans called the Baasta) is captured by Tarek (who belongs to a group of humans called Centrois)The Baasta and the Centrois are enemies, as the Cenntrois once enslaved the Baasta until they rebelled and overthrew them.Tarek catures Nari and makes her his sex chattel, being determined to tame her and make her submissive. He does this by keeping constantly aroused and on the verge of "release" but never quite allowing her to fulfill her desires. This book, as I said before has a lot of sex type stuff in it.It does have a plot line, but even that seems to drag on a bit...the plot seems to be there just to fill in the gaps between sex. I wouldnt recommend this book to people who have easily offended sensibilities...sex is referred to as "f***ing", and Nari's womanly parts are known as "c**t"... This book is not for those looking for tender romance, or a intricate plot line...
Though born as lowly chattel, the beautiful Nari has grown up free among the Baasta people until a band of conquerors shatters her world. The invader's leader is the muscular, magnificent Tarek, come to avenge his father's death--and to make Nari his slave. In Tarek's powerful hands, Nari fights the erotic training her captor has designed to make her his slave to desire. Teasing and tormenting, Tarek takes the bound Nari to the brink of climax again and again only to cruelly deny her release. But even when she is completely in his control, Nari vows to resist--until her hungry desires betray her. Despite his rage at the Baasta, Tarek cannot deny his growing passion for the defiant Nari. And now slave and captor are swept beyond the boundaries of ecstasy, where total submission is only the beginning of a dangerous and unstoppable love.

Roped Heat
Chapter One
Moist heat from the wide-eyed creature's flared nostrils brushed Nari's throat and slid across the top of her breasts. Sensing the wilding was on the brink of panic, she ran her fingers over the short, rough hair covering its broad chest. Standing twice her height, it could easily kill her. Fortunately, wildings were timid grass-eaters, and she understood their unstable nervous systems."Listen to me, trembling one," she muttered in the melodic tone that had gentled more wildings than she could count. "You're here because you heard my song. You don't know it yet, but in your heart you want to serve me and the rest of the Baasta."
Perhaps confused by the word Baasta, the wilding pawed the ground.
"My breed," she explained. "My kinsmen, much as your herd, give you a sense of belonging. There are nearly two hundred of us now, living safely in timber houses we placed against the side of a mountain." Confident that the wilding wasn't about to rear, she rested her hand against the chest so she could feel the strong, quick heartbeat.
"Do you hear your own song? This constant pulsing means you're alive. And soon our hearts will beat together. No longer will you have to forage for food throughout Hevassen while meat-eaters try to feed off your flesh. Do you understand? Once you accept my people as your lords, you'll live safely." Leaning closer, she expelled her breath near the wilding's nostrils.
"No longer will you be allowed to run free because we've found many uses for your kind, but we'll protect you. You'll grow fat and give birth to many babies." Obviously not convinced, the wilding backed a

This one's hot, but like many erotic tales, not necessarily the best-plotted novel. The continual back-and-forth between Nari's independence and Tarek's dominance/misogyny gets old when it isn't arousing. The idea of chattel is perhaps not as fully explored as it might have been (for the reader's interest as well as for sexual scenes). The part that was most disappointing, however, for a reader who enjoys a story along with the sex scenes, was that there was no real plan as to how/why the Centrois and Baasta would suddenly join forces together, considering their bloody history and both cultural and religious differences. Although the hero and heroine seem certain that they will be able to raise their half-race children in a happy and free world, and intelligent reader is left suspecting that when the after-glow finally fades, the situation may be a little more grim than their rosy dreams.
