After skyrocketing to fame with their hit single "Uh Huh," B2K seemed to have it all. But barely two years later the four friends succumbed to a rift so deep that three of them stopped showing up for sold-out shows. Lead singer Omari Grandberry was left with the intimidating prospect of facing their fans alone.

In this intimate memoir, Omarion chronicles his Los Angeles childhood, how B2K came together, the ups and downs of instant brotherhood, the struggles of making it in entertainment, what really happened in the final days of B2K, and what's next for him -- including starring in the Fat Albert movie, and more. Here is the story of a boy with the gift of song and dance raised in some of L.A.'s toughest neighborhoods, and how he ditched his "underage thug" complex to pursue his dream. Along the way, Omarion shares a more personal side, including his deep respect for the women who raised him and the roots of his spiritual foundation.

In O , he once again takes center stage, revealing himself to be a thoughtful, funny, multifaceted artist with the talent and drive to make it on his own.

Chapter One

Early Times

They always told me that I didn't cry ...

When I was born, I was not like any normal kid that comes crying out of the womb; I didn't make a sound. My grandmother delivered me at home, and after they wiped all of the stuff off, I just looked around the room at everybody. It was like I was saying, "I'm here." My grandmother and my aunts were all there, a room full of witnesses. They all say I didn't cry. All newborn babies cry; for some reason, I didn't. Nobody could figure it out. They were worried, and for a minute they thought that something was wrong with me. My mom, Leslie, saw it this way: She says I was announcing to the world that I had arrived, and not crying was my way of showing the universe, early on, that I was going to be different. I like her explanation, and I'll stick with that one-it's as good as any. That date was November 12, 1984, at about midnight. I'm a true Scorpio.

When I sit back and think about stuff like that-me coming into the world without shedding a tear-it makes me think, Dang, maybe I am special, maybe I'm here for a reason.

Me and my mother have been tight from the beginning. Leslie Burrell was only sixteen when she had me. For a while, there was a little pressure on her to give me up for adoption at birth or have an abortion so she could continue going to school. She insisted that there was a special bond formed when I was growing inside of her and that she wanted to keep me. Soon the rest of the family got on board, and everybody was very supportive.

I'm glad that things turned out the way they did. I couldn't have been raised in a more loving
