Reader Review: I love reading about the MacLean men, Hugh is no different. They are just simply the best. Hawkins is amazing, she brings them to life one page at a time. I simply could not stop reading, my attention is always captivated by the characters and the quick pace of the writing. I love the circumstances that brings them together and through that they work together while working against each other, its brilliant!
The fourth and fifth exciting novels in New York Times bestselling author Karen Hawkins’s sparkling Scottish Regency series about two beautiful twin sisters who find romance with the sexy MacLean brothers.
In Sleepless in Scotland , Catriona Hurst learns that her sister Caitlyn is getting into trouble in her societal debut, and she rushes to London to rescue her bolder, younger twin. Discovering that Caitlyn has planned to force Laird Alexander MacLean into marrying her by stowing away in his coach, Triond sneaks inside MacLean’s coach to dissuade her sister. But Triond gets trapped inside when the coach takes off—and it’s not Alex MacLean who discovers her, but his brother Hugh. Distracted by the heat that burns fiercely between them, he doesn’t realize that he’s gotten the wrong sister until it’s too late...

Sleepless in Scotland
"There's naught worse than a man who thinks he's
always right -- 'cept a woman who always is."
OLD WOMAN NORA TO HER THREE WEE
GRANDDAUGHTERS ON A COLD WINTER'S NIGHT
I forbid you to go." Though merely twenty years old, William Hurst thought himself in charge of Wythburn Vicarage when his father was away. "Be warned, Triona," he added in his deepest voice. "I will do everything in my power to halt this madness!" His oldest sister didn't even look up from digging out a worn portmanteau from her wardrobe. Caitriona -- Triona to her family -- placed the case on her bed and snapped it open, then began packing.
"Did you hear me?" William said more loudly, "I forbid -- "
"What? Oh, yes, I heard you. But someone has to go to London and talk some sense into Caitlyn."
"Yes, but -- "
"Since Father and Mother are visiting Uncle Traveres for two more weeks, and you are in the midst of preparing for your exams, that someone will have to be me."
William scowled. A handsome young man possessing considerable height, he was used to being paid more heed. Everyone in the county deferred to him, except his own family, even when he wore his high-collared coat of blue superfine, his cravat tied in an impressive array of knots. "You are not Caitlyn's keeper."
"But I am her twin sister, so it falls on me to help her out of this mess she's made."
"William, leave Triona be." Eighteen-year-old Robert stood by the door, his arms wrapped around a huge tome, and smirked at his older brother. "Father expressly placed Triona in charge when he left. I heard him."
William scowled. "Father didn't intend her to go running off to London. As I'm the oldest male, that should be my job."

...Title: Sleepless in Scotland October 20, 2012 Once again I am happy to say that I was not disappointed in the Maclean series. I truly enjoy all of the books I have read from Karen. She is a great author and really puts a lot into her characters as if each one is truly special. I liked that both Troina and Hugh were looking out for their siblings and ended in a situation were they were brought together and found the best in a bad situation. I can’t wait to read about the last Maclean brother and Hurst Twin.

Karen Hawkins is one of my favorite authors and she has penned another good one! In the McLean series, we come to Hugh McLean, whose curse is slightly different from his brothers' curses. He has children, has never been married, is a rogue, is handsome and loves his brothers and sister...so he decides to help his brother by deterring
a minx who has set herself to up trap Alexander into marriage. Those who interfere in business not their own can often pay the price. Here we have Hugh, as well as the minx's sister, trapped into the marriage that should not have been. This is a laugh out loud
love story and you will actuall get to met Old Woman Nora and her wee (but grown) granddaughters. Too bad that they didn't listen to her about those McLean men....or did they??? I highly recommend the third in this series and look forward to reading the last one!
