Reader Review: This is the second in the series by Cassandra Clare and follows the adventures of Tessa, Jem and Will. The plot is a little bit slower in this book than the first but the romance is so much more compelling. We learn a lot more about the reasons behind Will's behavior and attitude towards others and it is both beautiful and heartbreaking to read. We also see more depth in the relationship between Jem and Tessa which ultimately sets up a love triangle unlike any other. Tessa continues to hunt to find out who and what she is, and the shadowhunters as a whole learn more about the Magister. I definitely recommend this novel!

This book is even better than the first! I find myself even more in love with Jem and loving every moment of Henry’s absent-mindedness. There were parts in this book where I wanted to cry (and smile like a fool) because it was so good! It was also much sweeter than the first one and always left you wondering who Tessa was going to choose. I love books that can play with your emotions!
Possibly Clare's best book yet!

Clare continues to awe me with each new addition. In her latest, The Clockwork Prince, I have yet again been sucked into the world of Demons, Downworlders, and the darkest plots against Shadowhunters yet! As Tess discovers more about what she really is and what part she plays in the evil plans happening around her she is torn between Will - with whom she feels passion and excitement despite his distant nature - and Jem - whose subtle kindness and sweet words keep her head spinning and her heart fluttering. Not only does this love triangle heat up but the action does, too, and I have a feeling it will all soon be revealed. All in all this was an excellent read and leaves me desperate for the next book, Clockwork Princess. I recommend this series to teens and adults alike because with the fantastical world set in historical London there's a little something for everyone.

There is definitely no shortage of romance in the second instalment of The Infernal Devices. Yes, Tessa and the shadowhunters are still trying to hunt down the magister and his evil clockwork army, but compared to the first book, the action scenes are few and far between. Instead, we follow Tessa as she searches for clues as to what she is and who her parents were, and watch her struggle as she chooses between the sweet and caring Jem, or the dark and mysterious Will. If you loved Clockwork Angel, or even The Mortal Instruments series, then you are going to devour this book!
