Reader Review: From the first few chapters, it became evident that the author wanted to take the vampire idea to new areas. By combining deep spiritual and psychological themes with an older conception of vampires (think nosferatu mixed with polterguist), Mr. Cailler created a class of undead beings that are more frightening, yet more realistic than its counterparts in popular fiction. And if that werent enough, the story is bifurcated, told from alternating perspectives each chapter - a vampire, and a hunter. As the sotry unfolds, you have the enjoyment of seeing various people, places and events from opposing sides, leading you the reader to wonder who is really right and wrong? I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre, and especially to those who usually avoid the genre, since in its novelty, creates something even an avoider of tradition vampire stories can enjoy.
An intensely dark and psychological modern vampire tale which alternates between two independently motivated perspectives: the rise of one restless vampire, and the fall of one vengeful vampire hunter.
