Chapter One

The Black man is an American patriot because he is a true American, as the Christians have become the children of God and as Christ suffered and earned the right to become our savior, the Black man has become an American by virtue of his suffering. A man's true character and allegiance is born out of his ability to survive adverse consequences, our savior Jesus Christ was rejected, he was ridiculed, and he was beaten and finally he was killed by his own people. Ironically he became their savior and deliverer and not only theirs, but the savior of the world. The Black man also has been rejected, ridiculed, beaten and in some cases even killed, but he cannot be destroyed because it is his destiny to be the backbone and strength of this nation. He has the power and the vigor to sustain the nation and his blood runs through the veins of this land, making this land great. There's no other country that is as progressive and as innovating as America. All of the great minds that came to this country were developed, refined and perfected through suffering and as the scriptures say, these minds, gifts and talents will come forth as pure gold. The Black man has touched every level of life and thus can lay claim to every mans status, he has lived the life of soldier, slave, farmer, scientist, inventor, educator, writer, politician and wealthy businessman. He is a patriot because from the time Christopher Columbus was claiming the New World for Spain, the Black man was with him and as this land became a nation and fought for freedom he was there.
