In 1894 this collection of short stories about the world's most famous literary detective was published. In the first edition* *"The Adventure of the Cardboard Box," was not included although it appears in later editions. It is thought that Doyle did not include this story, because it included adultery and he felt that was not a suitable for his younger readers.
