Reader Review: A friend recommended this book for me. The cover was what hit me first...it definitely transcends those of other his/fic books and certainly grabbed my attention. The book itself was very unique. It talked about many aspects of the Mayans which were all new to me. But the book delved deeper than your average his/fic...it addressed questions about war/peace/science that will attract and fascinate (it certainly did for me) many readers. Great Read and will recommend it to my friends! Congrats to Cherukuri

fact filled, fun, a hook for anyone who wants to know about the Mayans"

Fourteen-year-old Bobby Irukurehc wants some excitement. While he's on the fast track to having the perfect life-prep school, Harvard, and then a place in his family's law firm in Boston-he wants something more. But Bobby is about to discover that it's best to be careful what you wish for ...

Bobby accompanies his family to an archeological campsite at Chich'en Itzá, Mexico, home of the ancient Mayans. Determined to have some fun before school sucks it right out of him, Bobby and his little brother, Eli, tour a magnificent pyramid and marvel at its intricate construction. Later that night, Bobby realizes his prized watch is gone, and the brothers return to the site to find it. But something incredible happens: the boys are mystically transported to Chich'en Itzá in the year 1527 AD! Stuck in the ancient world, Bobby and Eli struggle to put all their historical knowledge to the test just to survive. They meet a cast of colorful characters, including a virtuous king, a curious high priest, loyal commanders, and evil enemies bent on their destruction. Bobby suddenly has all the adventure he could want, and he's ready to go back home. But can the brothers find a way to return to their own time, or are they stuck forever?

Magical Maya: Adventures of Bobby and Eli

Chapter One

2010 A.D.

Bobby woke with a pang between his eyes.

"Eli!" he cried out. "Stop playing with my glasses!"

His brother handed the glasses back and slowly ten-year-old Eli Irukurehc came into focus.

"Okay, okay, can't you take a joke?" grumbled Eli. "I hate being the only fourth-grader in this camp."

As Eli stomped off towards his sleeping bag, Bobby stared at him. It wasn't that Bobby didn't like his younger brother; it was just that Bobby's life was not as exciting as he wanted it to be. It seemed as if his entire life had been planned for him, from his going to Andover Prep, to Andover, eventually to Harvard and then becoming a notable lawyer. The Irukurehcs were one of the most respected families in Boston. His great-grandpa, Aleksandar, escaped the Nazis as a youth in Macedonia and received a government grant to study at Harvard. After Aleksandar graduated, he established Irukurehc and Associates, an archeological company. The rest was history. By teaming up with the leading investors of his day, Aleksandar transformed Irukurehc & Associates into a first-class archaeological firm that handled work all over the globe. And so the stage was set. Every member of the Irukurehc family had to live up to Aleksandar's reputation and uphold the family name.

But it seemed to Bobby that nothing interesting ever happened to him, that he was a programmed robot.

But a programmed robot that longed to malfunction!

That was why he had decided to accompany his parents to the Mayan archeological campsite in Chich'en Itzá, Mexico. He had never been on such a trip, so he tho
