A balanced life is one in which all areas of your life are being controlled by you during both good and bad times; it's not about all things going well all the time. A balanced life is a life in which you have balanced not only your finances, but also your spiritual life, your emotional life, and your educational life. It is the direct result of making educated choices and staying focused. Having a balanced life is a daily task-it never stops! Of course, how you manage and deal with your finances is important; however, that's not all there is to life. You may be financially strong-you may have more than enough money in the bank-but the rest of your life could still be a mess! The spiritual component of your life focuses on whomever or whatever you believe in that is larger than yourself; this part of your life ponders questions such as, "Why are we here? What is the purpose of life?" Your emotional life engages with your perception of yourself and your relationships, while educational life is a combination of your knowledge and how you carry out your daily life. Using a vital visualization provided by author Anis Blémur-A Balanced LifeWatch (or the AB Watch)-you can determine whether you are living a balanced life, where improvements are needed, and how you can achieve happiness through a balanced life.

A Balanced Life: How to Achieve Success in Every Area of Your Life

Chapter One

What is a Balanced Life?

I want to talk to you about your lives. Yes, I said lives—meaning more than one!

I say that because I believe there are many lives that people can live—many lives that people can choose to live. There are several ways to live. I call them lives because no one has only one life to live! That's what I believe.

Look at it this way: in politics, people can change from one political party to another. Good politicians explain to you that a democrat thinks and lives very differently from a republican. And an independent thinks and lives very differently from members of the other parties.

Some people work in factories for their entire lives. Others in the same line of work may decide not to continue in that industry and return to school to become educators. Now they are teachers—they are spending time thinking about how to teach, how to explain concepts and principles to others. In the factory, they were doing things that other people taught them through books or beliefs. This explains a life change situation that you are probably familiar with. If you do understand change, you know that the same people who make the same change could be living two different lifestyles: family time, socializing, savings, and spending money may increase significantly.

Note that there was a sacrifice to be made. While working, they had to go to school to further their education, or they had to quit work to pursue a higher learning horizon. This what's called opportunity costs, in economics: we have to give up something for another.
