Reader Review: This novel by Jennifer Blake was a great combination of a love story and a mystery. I wasn't sure I was going to like this one because I usually don't care for the older woman/younger man story. Ms Blake was able to give her character's such personality that the age difference really didn't matter. Someone is out to hurt and then kill either Laurel or Alec. Horrific gossip spins around the two of them as they try to create a garden at Laurel's Victorian home and deaths in the past are questioned. This is an excellent novel of love and hate, and the narrowmindedness of a small town. Laurel and Alec are people that you find yourself really caring about and hoping for the best for them. I really enjoyed it and think you will, too.

Laurel Bancroft has lived for years as a recluse, isolating herself from a town that has branded her a murderer. But now, convinced people have finally forgotten, she is ready to resume her life.

Then Laurel meets Alec Stanton. Hired to help redesign her garden, Alec is a stranger with a mysterious past. Though more than ten years younger, Alec is exactly what Laurel needs: intelligent, talented, passionate.

But as their relationship grows, so does a dangerous threat against them. Someone wants Laurel to return to her seclusion and give up her younger lover--someone who hasn't forgotten that night so many years ago.
