Reader Review: Very sweet short story about two young men trying to develop a relationship, one is just out of college and one is still in college, but it's a very hot summer.
There’s more to summer than just hot weather.
Fresh out of college and new to the working world, John faces reality—spending the rest of his life stuck behind a desk instead of having fun in the sun with his friends. His boss is on his back, his car is breaking down, and the oppressive heat is broiling him alive. There’s no end in sight to his misery.
Tall, slender, green-eyed Keith runs the lunch shift at the local diner, an air-conditioned oasis away from what John’s life has become. Keith’s cheerful personality, constant smile and unbearably sexy body help to remind John that summer is what he makes of it. And with Keith’s cooperation, John plans on making this his best summer yet.

Hot Weather
Chapter One
Coming back behind the counter, Keith told the unseen Joe, "Tuna on white with some chips and broth for Mr. Riggins," then took over a glass of water. A few more minutes passed, but finally he returned, leaning against but not across the counter. Wiping with the dishcloth at an invisible spot, he asked, "You want some ice cream?"Keeping his voice low, John looked up, trying to meet Keith's eyes. "I'd love some cream."
Keith didn't blush or look scandalized. He just took a quiet breath, then made eye contact. "I can't serve that here."
It wasn't an outright no. John pushed for more. "There are other places we can go."
The tempted, conflicted expression on Keith's face gave John hope. Then it was like Keith made a decision. In a calm, nonjudgmental tone, he asked, "Were you listening to what I said earlier? About casual sex and-"
"And you being a hopeless romantic?"
"Right. I ... I really like you," Keith said, like it was an important point but not a brutal thing to say. "I'm really attracted to you, but I like you, too, and the more I get to know you, the more time I want to spend with you. I don't want to make a big thing out of this, but it seems like if we"-he coughed-"go too fast all of a sudden right now, it'll mess things up. If we wait, not forever, just for a week or so, it'll be better pacing. And pacing is everything."
"You're giving me a yes-but-not-now? You're saying yes and still putting me off?" John couldn't believe this. Oh, God, hell. "I hate you."
"You don't seem to mean that," Keith said, with an amused, perplexed smile. "At all."
"I freaking-of cours

This was a good story for the most part. The play between the characters was good. It has a good buildup to it. So good was the buildup I actually thought for a minute that the one guy was going to have a disability or something he was hiding as the reason he was so hesitant to go into the relationship too fast. I thought this because suddenly he decides to just go for it. Which made me believe the "I want this to mean something" was not true. But no, it was a very straight forward and abrupt ending.

This book was up there with some of the best romance stories I've read!!
If your looking for a GREAT romance then this is the book to read!! If your in it ONLY for the sex then maybe you need to read another book, don't get me wrong this book has some GREAT HOT SEX, (I was breathing heavy) but the book is more about the budding romance then the sex and well well worth the read - I enjoy reading the romance of two men - to many people think being gay means being promiscuous and this one puts a definite stop to those thoughts right away!!
I base my books by if I'd read them again and if this one were a print book it would be worn thin and falling apart!! I'll be looking for more books by this author.

I love m/m erotica when it focuses on more than just the sex. I love relationship development and reading about characters falling in love. This is a fabulous balance between steamy sex and schmoopy romance.
