"Call Me Silas: One Man's Battle with Intimacy" is a true story of one man's difficult and circuitous process of assimilating a painful inexplicable event from his past and finally recognizing how that event has unconsciously affected his relationships during his adolescent and young adult years. Specifically, how it led to a mind-set that caused decidedly pathological and self-defeating results when it came to dealing with important matters surrounding love, intimacy, personal safety, and self-esteem. It chronicles how he'd trapped himself within the confines of a very damaging self-fulfilling prophesy that remained consciously undetected for decades. It desperately tries to convey the intense regret he feels after hurting, and subsequently almost destroying his first love-not because he wanted to, but rather because he felt compelled to do so out of a sense of self-preservation which arose from that same self-created prophesy. It's an autobiography, a confession, an awakening, an apology, a catharsis, and a philosophical/psychological exercise all rolled-up into a single manuscript. Silas put his heart and soul into this book literally and figuratively speaking-he had to, that's what is required him. Anything less would've been an insincere stab in the dark. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Silas Caulfield is your everyday average guy - probably similar to you, the reader, in many respects. He's had his share of difficulty in life which obviously is a relative statement. He doesn't claim to be the victim of overwhelming trials or tribulations. He doesn't expect or demand vindication of any kind. He simply recognizes that events from his past have led him to do things which he sincerely and remorsefully regrets. He now lives his life day-to-day, forever reminded of what he has done, in a state of humbled penitence and eternal gratitude-if that combination even makes sense.
