Although this starts as an apparent fantasy piece the story quickly reveals itself to be a hard science fiction adventure piece dealing with a remote colony world where almost all memory of their advanced technology has been lost. Jacob Torvals is on the verge of adulthood when he joins a traveling band of three "magicians" who are working to restore the worlds pervious level of technology. Following a near disaster the four fight nature and man as they make their way across the untamed alien world to reach Trolliinghom, the magicians' city. Throughout their journey Jacob tries to form a relationship with the mysterious and beautiful Tash Pallas while fighting Blade, her deadly and protective companion. Jacob quickly adapts to the marvels he encounters in Trollinghom and becomes a member of the scouts who seek any machines that are still functional. These perilous explorations expose Jacob to dangers that nearly cost him his life before he finally discovers the truth of his origins and his place in the world.

| Note | ePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the "non-propreitary" hardware manufacturers are now supporting it. |
