Alexander is a salamander. He lives in “Rio Cove" on the banks of the Amazon River in the heart of the jungle.
He lives with his dad Sal, his mom Sally, his brother Ander, and his sister Mandy.
They live near the beach on the edge of a great big rainforest.
Today is the first day of school. Alexander really likes school. He is happy to see all his friends again after a long summer vacation.
His teacher is Mrs. Lily. She is a frog. Alexander also has classes with Mr. Uncle the Ant and Mr. Marty the Millipede. Mr. Uncle teaches computers and Mr. Marty teaches math.
2. Terry the Tarantula
Alexander sees a new creature sitting in the classroom.
It's a tarantula! Alexander is curious about him. Who is he? Is he friendly?
Alexander smiles at the tarantula and says, "Hello, how are you? What's your name?"
The creature smiles and says, "Hello! I'm Terry the Tarantula. I just moved to Rio Cove with my family."
"I’m Alexander. Nice to meet you! I can show you around the cove if you'd like."
"Yes, please. That would be great!" Terry says. They go outside to play during recess.
