Radical Excellence is essentially the professional autobiography of the author. Hitchcock's teaching career started in 1963 and includes extensive experience in both public and Christian schools. Most administrators and teachers in both those instructional environments are well-meaning and honestly hope to provide an effective education for their students. There are some deep-rooted philosophical differences, however, that seriously restrict the positive results so desperately sought after. One of the reviews offered by a reader sums up the benefit of this book. "As a parent and former teacher, I found Radical Excellence to be one of those "mm-hmmm" kind of reads, where you always had the thoughts lingering, but never saw or articulated them as precisely as Hitchcock does. While taking time to address some critical shortcomings in the current approach to education in general, there are feasible solutions provided, and inspiring stories that will one to look with hope toward a better and brighter "tomorrow" for our students and children. Teachers, parents, thoughtful citizens...pick it up. You'll be glad you did." Review by Marla Pascarelli A veteran teacher wrote the following. "I really feel every public school administrator should read and own a copy of this book. aHa's abound! Hitchcock illustrates (abit like DNA) how profoundly simple complex solutions to some of our educational problems might be. It appears to be a matter of starting points. Maybe education ought to start with kids! Thanks for the insights John" Review by Dan Saulsgiver, Public School Biology Teacher A public school teacher writes as follows. John Hitchcock's Radical Excellence tells the tale of the public school system from a refreshing new perspective. While most books on education are written from either an anti-school or a pro-socialist view, Hitchcock gives the perspective of a veteran who has worked in the field for many years. Radical Excellence is probably suited best for educators but it would also be a good read for parents." Marc Howard, social studies teacher Radical Excellence is an easy read that challenges the status-quo and urges the reader to become proactive in creating a visionary educational experience.

NoteePub, short for electronic publication is one of our favorites and should be yours for a couple of reasons. ePub offers reflowable text giving you flexibility to manipulate how the content is presented. Moreover, lots of cool features are now being developed for the reader like advanced video and audio. ePub is now an industry standard, so all of the "non-propreitary" hardware manufacturers are now supporting it.
