All eBooks downloaded using Adobe Reader 7.0 (or greater) on Windows are stored in the My eBooks directory within the My Documents folder. On MacOSX, eBooks are stored in the eBooks folder within the Documents folder.

If you are using Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader, your Adobe ebooks will be stored in the "Data" folder within your Adobe eBook Reader directory.  All Adobe ebooks have file names that end with the following string of text: ".pdf" or ".ebx". To finde all of your Adobe ebooks, you can search your computer for files with this text (the next section below describes how to do this).  For more details on the ebook download, please review the section "How the ebook download works."

Using Your Computer's Find or Search Tool

If you can’t find the eBook you downloaded there are several options you should try:

  1. Check the directory structure used by your eBook download software. For example, in Windows, the My Documents and/or My Library folders are often used for storing ebooks.

  2. If you are using Windows:

Please use Windows Explorer to search for the file extension corresponding to the ebook format you are searching for:

    1. Open "Explorer"
    2. Go to "Tools" on the toolbar
    3. Highlight "Find", then "Files or Folders"
    4. For "Named" type in "*.pdf" or "*.ebx"
    5. Click on the Search icon

It is recommended you modify your computers settings for downloading Adobe Reader files so that you get a "save dialog" that will allow you to save the special Adobe ETD file to your My eBooks folder. To do this on your computer:

  • On WinXP, go to "Start", then "My Computer", then select "Tools" then select "Folder Options" '
  • In Windows Vista, Open Control Panel.  In Control Panel Home, click "Programs", and then click "Make a file type always open in a specific program". Or, in the Classic View, open "Default Programs" and then click "Associate a file type or protocol with a program". Highlight a file type in the list and click Change Program.
  • go to Start, then My Computer, then select "Tools" then select "Folder Options"
  • Select the "File Types" tab. Let the File Types load (it takes 15 seconds or so). Scroll down to the .etd file type and click Advanced.
  • Check both the boxes on that page (to show extensions and to "Confirm Open after download"), then click Okay on those windows to close them.

After doing this, you can download the Adobe ETD file, save it in your My eBooks folder, then open the file. The ETD file will then launch Adobe Reader 7.0, obtain your eBook license, and finally download your eBook.
